Criteria
The criteria checkboxes reflect what information will be displayed or not displayed on the right side of the screen and what you will or won't receive in your email digest (for members). For example, if you do not what to see any employment ads, uncheck the Employment Ad checkbox. Alternatively, if you are interested in finding a congregation or minyan, then make sure that the Organizations checkbox under Sections is checked. Click on the plus sign to expand the Organizations subsection and make sure that Congregation / Minyan checkbox is checked. If you only want to see what's in the East Bay, click on the plus sign to expand the Locations subsection and uncheck everything except East Bay. Click on the Refresh Results button.

Filter Options
The default filter is Posted Within Last. With the sub-filter (the drop-down box on the right), you can select the number of days since a listing has been posted (or updated). If you change it to Upcoming, you can select the number of days until the activity will take place or view what's happening on a specific day or group of days. Note that listings such as profiles which do not have a future date will not show up in Upcoming results. If you are logged in, you will also have a filter option called My Posts & Communications.
