Humanistic Judaism openly embraces intercultural individuals and families who want to experience being Jewish. We look to a person's character, rather than their pedigree, in welcoming him or her into our community. But what of the other side of the coin? What is the experience of those who are raised in a bi-cultural home? Do they consider themselves half-Jewish? Jewish and…? Only Jewish?
At the June 16 Shabbat celebration, Madrikha Beverly will highlight presentations from the recent International Institute for Secular Humanistic Judaism Colloquium in Chicago. Members and guests will be encouraged to share their personal experiences.Soloist Janet Hammer and pianist Mark Danisovszky will provide music. An oneg will follow the program.
