Join Wilderness Torah at the East Bay JCC for a B'naiture and B'hootz Information Session. Bring your kids, meet the mentors, and learn about our pioneering programs integrating Judaism, outdoor skills, and nature connection.

For kids, 6-10, we offer B'hootz, which means "Outside!" in Hebrew. B'hootz is a weekly nature-based experience for children that brings Judaism to life with the seasons. For ten Sundays in the Fall and ten Sundays in the Spring, we gather in the Oakland Redwoods and explore nature, learn wilderness skills such as lost-proofing, tracking, and shelter-building, and study Torah stories, texts, and prayers related to being in the wilderness

For 11-13 year olds ready to experience a rite of passage, we offer B'naiture, Wilderness Torah's B'nai Mitzvah Nature Mentorship. B'naiture is a two-year, experiential program that uses nature as a vehicle to explore the transition from childhood to adolescence.

This groundbreaking program weaves Jewish teachings, story, and song with personal challenges, outdoor skills, non-parental mentorship, peer group community building, and nature awareness activities to provide an embodied way for youth to explore coming-of-age.

B'naiture provides independent tracks for girls and boys that overlap at several points throughout the year. A parallel parent group explores how to best support their children at this critical time.
